An Eintou*

Introspective stuff

re-igniting me and all

in presence and in unmistakable silhouette

your words breathe light as they give mental insight

you embraced a culture, manifested it

manifested it in word

and song

*An Eintou is an African (and African American) seven-syllabic/

word count form of poem consisting of 2 words first line, 4

second, 6 third, 8 fourth, 6 fifth, 4 sixth line and 2 seventh line.

The name originates from Pearl Eintou Springer, an activist who

committed her life to the African Diaspora and the preservation

of Black culture globally. Pearl, an Afro-Trinidadian, wrote many

poems and prose, that tremendously inspired many feminist

writers in Africa and the Americas, myself included.
